Cardboard Dinner Night Owl

Warming hands over the oven, staring at resistance.  Ice crystals poking from pepperonis - cheese glazed with frost.  Compelled to sit.  Wood flavored laminate, peeling linoleum, an opaque reflection looking through, watching.  Wait.  Yellowed fluorescent hums of moths clumsily darting by ears and dense hood lights.  Cold floor, like spring mornings in the truck.  Sitting in the numb; like a static giving device.  Resistance glows - stares back.  Willed to stare back.  The crust is golden and beautiful.  Waiting.  Quiet and the humming engine.  Defrosting and foggy breathing.  Through the window, heat waves.  Pepperoni harbored grease pools in orange.  Resistance.  Done and ready.
